THE FISH IN THE NET NOT AS HAPPY AS THE FISH, NOT YET, IN THE NET.
I have spent a lifetime around the painter's process. The son of Bill
Rane, the Taos, New Mexico painter, who created a whole new fusion of all his influences. I
took inspiration from Bill's artistic philosophy and technical virtuosity.
I begin painting with a preconceived vision of what it might become. This
first idea controls the process. I feel forced to spray, drip or splatter paint to try and loosen and
shake the painting free. This creating and destroying of the canvas serves to age the canvas in amazing and
unpredictable ways. A little bit of each layer stays behind.
